Weird Ethernet Behavior

On my MacBook I'm experiencing a weird behavior. When my computer goes to sleep, and I leave adium on it will sign off, which makes sense. But then when I bring my computer back up it wont reconnect without quitting the program and reopening it. The same goes for safari.

Sometimes, I'll have to remove the Cat 5 cable, and re-insert it.

Is there some hidden power preference for the ethernet port?

No ethernet power options.

Sounds like something is wrong with the hardware. There have been a number of sleep problems with the MacBook/Pro so perhaps a solution is available from Apple? Give it a shot.
