Now, a update to the 15" PowerBook on the other hand...
I played around with the cafeteria tray PowerBook at the local Apple store. Just too big for my needs. A new 15" PowerBook, with the features of the 17" (but same ATI card) would be quite nice.

Now, I'm waiting for some money (coming soon), and then I'll be waiting for a 12" AlBook update...

the iBooks really need an update... but for that to happen there will need to be a complete update of the powermacs etc.
the 12" AlBook is really what the iBooks should be, the G3's are just getting too old, but i guess that they are just the consumer models....
i've got a 15"TiBook, but it's too big for being truly portable. it's sort of in-between a desktop replacement and a laptop. the 12" is a good size. the iBooks need at least a hefty speed boost, as well as support for dual monitors... then i'll be stoked.:D :D
i just get a new 12" 800mhz ibook two weeks ago and i think it's great.
and somehow i am happy to be able to boot back to 9, because of qt vr authoring studio and some other stuff - even i really DO NOT LIKE to boot on 9... but there's still some software besides quark that runs only on 9 - and i do not like classic-mode...
so, it's fine with me when ibooks get an update now. i would be happy to get an update for qt vr authoring studio, too!

We've just ordered ourselves a 700mhz iBook & it'll be used by the gf who needs it for her uni work (which will mainly involve MS Office). Eventually, she will also be creating her own webpages alongside my current website - so she'll be using GoLive, Graphic Convertor, text editors, etc. etc.. (so we also plumped for the 512k upgrade module, as 128mb is too low apple!!!)
All for under 900 pounds in the UK, and it'll run all the above s/w just dandy - afterall, if my ageing 9600/350 can....!
The iBook is perfect for those wanting a new Mac and either can't afford more or have "simple" needs like education/office work. We wouldn't have bought our iBook if we used Photoshop or Quark or whatever..! :-)
We love the iBook :-)

I was waiting for the perfect iBook nearly two years. Now I've got the 12" Powerbook since two weeks and I am happy - really happy. Don't need any iBook updates any more :-)
Anyway, if I hadn't bought the PB yet, I would also be waiting for new iBooks to come out.

I voted no. My wife purchased an iBook in July 2001 at MWNY. She dosen't really need a new Apple just yet, though tempted by the 17" PB. She love's her iBook!

No, the longer the better. I already shelled out $1599 in December just to see a $100 price break 2 months later! An upgrade to the ibooks within another month or so would suck. Work on the 15" PB, ipod, and maybe a real upgrade on the imac first.

No, because when they release a new one, my current one will lose its "top of the line" brag factor :)

Yes, I am waiting for updates for all of apples' products. That
doesn't mean I am going to buy them though. ;)

No, I'm not really waiting on the iBook updates, though I would like to see them.
I'm perfectly happy with my iMac. :)

Speed bumped iBooks would also mean companies like Powerlogix & Sonnet will release even faster Pismo upgrades (still the best PowerBook ever) The 800Mhz upgrades just aren't much better than the 500Mhz original processor due to the cache sizes (800Mhz 512k & 500Mhz 1MB) - FasterMac.com & Powerlogix have failed to provide concrete evidence that the 500 & 550 G4 upgrades provide any benefit over the 500Mhz G3.

Nope, but I'd love to see an updated 15" powerbook... preferably with a 970 but then I woke up.

I am waiting to see what the next generation iBook brings. I really like the 12" concept. After having to lug around a Gateway Laptop that I have on loan, I want something that won't limit my ability to carry something else with it.
I like the 12" PowerBook but the G4 is the only real reason to shell out the extra $500. A faster G3 or even a move to the G4 would make my decision easier. (I just don't need a lot of the PB's features).

Yeah you gotta wait. Then wait again because then you'll be worried that they're going to reupdate it and then you'll be behind the times.
