.Mac Backup Software

I'm a Mac newbie. During the two months since I've bought my machines I've experienced some highs and some lows.

One of the major lows is the backup software. It doesn't compress files (unbelivable). It's incredibly (I mean incredibly) slow when backing up to my iDisk.

I'm just about to try another backup software solution. Is anyone else having the same problem or is it just me? A 20 MB backup can take hours. Does anyone know if Dantz Retrospect would back up to my iDisk?

IMO the problem is iDisk speed, even with my 256k upstream connection transfering anything to iDisk is painfully slow. Using different software to do the backup to iDisk won't speed it up :(
