Formatting External Hard Drive for use with XP and OSX

I've installed XP onto my iMac, but it can't read my external hard drive (it was formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). I'd like to be able to access it on the XP side of my computer. How should I format it so I can get to all the files through OSX or XP? Do I need to do this in XP?

I'm fairly sure using Disk Utility to format the drive as MS-DOS File System will allow it to work on the XP side as well as OSX.

Depending on how big the drive is. You should format it to Fat32 so the mac and XP machine can see it.

It's 250 GB. How do I format to FAT32?
