View Full Version : iBook's fan acting funny after fresh install of 10.3 Panther

I just downgraded my iBook G3 600 from Tiger to Panther to see if it would increase the machine's performance. I did a clean install of Panther, upgraded to 10.3.9, and now for some strange reason, when I boot the machine (even cold) the fan comes on and constantly runs, which it never did before. However If I wake the machine from sleep the fan doesn't come on -- it only happens from a full boot-up (every time).

Any tips on how to fix this?

Thanks.

Interesting. Maybe try resetting your PRAM (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238) and if that doesn't work, reset the PMU (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449). :)

Thanks for the tips. Interestingly enough, after about 5 restarts the problem ceased.

Cheers.

Awesomeness. It's pretty cool how many small quirks can be ironed out by restarting, albeit five times. :D
