I think Elton John's silly. Pardon me while I wait for Jay Leno to call and book me on his show to talk about what I just posted.

I guess I won't download his latest album from iTunes then, I was considering it from the e-mail I just got from iTMS, but now it just seems silly. :p

Who cares what Elton John thinks anyway? If it were Chuck Norris saying it, then I'd pay attention. :)

Didn't he do a Creative commercial? ...or some off brand of MP3 player. Where he walks through his house and hands all his chores off to his servants, while he's listening to whatever thing he has. Comes off to me as arrogant.

On Tuesday's Tonight Show, Elton John told Jay Leno that he thinks iPods are "silly" and that he would prefer to buy a CD so he can listen to an entire album at a time...If there only was a way to listen to "entire albums" on the iPod...

...oh, wait...

You'd have to listen, or Chuck would kick your butt!

How dare you say Elton John is silly.

He is a deeply serious (http://www.smh.com.au/ffximage/2006/08/03/elton4806_narrowweb__300x435,0.jpg), highly respected (http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41145000/jpg/_41145432_donald_rex_elton2.jpg), high-brow (http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41145000/jpg/_41145468_party_lfi_elton3.jpg), sensible (http://www.associatedentertainment.com/aec/images/main/Elton-John.jpg) artist.

That gave me an early morning chuckle. Couldn't have hit the nail more on the head there.

If he thinks iPods are silly then that's his opinion and he's perfectly entitled to it. However, buying an iPod isn't half as silly as buying Watford football club. :D

It was for one of those portable satellite radio things. I don't remember if it was the one where you had to record the horrible sounding music while listening to it in real time while it faded in and out or the one that doesn't actually get reception indoors. Wasn't really paying attention. Isn't he the guy who spends thousands of dollars a day on clothes and CDs? That he was complaining about having to carry so much of it around with him all the time. If only there was some way he could miraculously load a bunch of that music up on some portable device using some kind of compression scheme that near CD quality. If only.

Is it just me, or has Sir Eltons hair made a comeback? It loooks like he has much more hair than this in recent photo's! :D

Elton means noting to anyone right about now. His piano playing isn't even that spectacular any more. Someone like, for instance, Ben Folds makes Elton look like a third-grader in music class. Elton's just being a snob, and to that I say, "Yeah, i don't like to steal just one song from an artist, I like to steal their entire catalog."

1) Apparently he doesn't understand how the iPod works

2) I think that he would prefer that we buy complete CDs.

I believe that is due to a contraption called a wig. :p

I believe that is due to a contraption called a wig. :pActually, didn't he go in for one of those hair weave/plug replacement procedures? I don't know if he ended up abandoning it for a regular wig, though. If memory serves the procedure didn't exactly work out for him...

Meh. If I had EJ's money, I'd probably do the same thing. I'd love to buy entire season DVDs of shows I missed the first time, but I'd rather spend the money on something else.

I don't really use my iPod much, but I don't think it's silly. Lots of people use them all the time. The silliest thing, of course, is people who won't even take of their headphones when you try to talk to them.

The one time i use my iPod a lot is when I'm driving. I do a lot of driving in my job, hook the iPod up to the car stereo. Hour after hour of music that I like, no commercials, no scrub songs, it's beautiful.

Keep in mind who we're talking about.

A celebrity like Elton probably never goes out walking in public. He'd be mobbed by fans (whatever you think of his music, he is still terribly popular.)

He's going to be at home, in the studio, in a car, on a plane, etc. Always within easy reach of a CD player. So portable music in general serves no purpose for him.

But why should anyone else care? I don't care what celebrities think about politics (just like I don't care what polititians think about music). And I don't care what celebrities think about technology.

Dudes -- Elton John is broke. That's why he's doing Vegas shows. Why he's on Leno. Needs the pr. Had to sell off things a few years back. Is his music on iTunes? Old stuff? And it's a hair transplant; or rather, a series of hair transplants. I still like his rock stuff Bitch is Back, Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting. But that's about it.
