paralles on macpro only lets me visit google.com and no shared folder

hi guys, i installed windows xp pro using parallels and have two issues on my mac pro. when trying to browse the internet, i can only go to google.com and nothing else. any other site just sits there waiting for reply. also i cant see the shared folder i created on my mac in network places. doesn anyone have any ideas what could cause this?
