HELP! Home direct. messed up, folders moved, icons messed up

I've had this problem for a few days and am trying to get help from a forumite in another forum. Instead of retyping everything here, I'll just post a link to that thread, OK? You can probably skip to the middle or end.

I am not going to read that entire thread so you will probably get a lot of redundant help here.

Anyway, have you done a Hard Disk repair with Disk Utilities via the OS X DVD that came with the machine? But I'd back up what you have found.

sounds like you jst logged in a different account, goto preference->accounts panel, see if you checked automatically logged into account "User"
