I believe I'm at 17. My spindle of 100 will sooner or later diminish, though, I can feel it.
Scratch that, I think I'm at 20...forgot about some others.

I've burnt only one DVD-RW to back up my iMac.
That's all. Don't have any other use for the superdrive sadly.

just wondering:
So what do you burn besides backup and (i)movies
Do people use a dvdburner a lot for copying moviedvd's? I mean for backup purposes. Cause, a superdrive can only burn single layer, right?

Interesting that over half of the poll voters do not Burn.. rip etc.
I thought most people did use it, personally I prefer a hard disk backup. I just find CD disks too costly and fussy, and I'd just lose my data someplace, yeah

Actually it's about 11 percent of the poll takers (currently) who have a superdrive but haven't burned a DVD in yet.
The almost half are people who don't have superdrives, they may still brun CDs - which would be a different poll.

I have hours upon hours of video of our 2 children I'd love to make into an iMovie and burn to a DVD but I don't have a superdrive. However I will be ordering a new desktop this summer and it WILL have a superdrive. The only problem then is, when will I find the time to compile all this video?!

With 44% of Mac users not having a superdrive, it shows that Apple has a vast uptapped market. September if it lives up to the billing could be a real watershed for Apple!

i will burn DVDs left and right as soon as apple updates the 15.x" powerbook. i still have an 800 and no superdrive.
but the 17 is too big and 12 too small. SOOO, no burning till apples gets their A$$ in gear and gets me a powerbook upgrade :D

I made a couple of PAL-DVDs of my college life in the US for my friends and family at home in Germany... fun, easy to do, movies - slideshows, PDF-readme (I even had tons of space left for some of my radio shows as mp3s)... I used iMovie2 (aaaargh, I HATE 3!!!)
I don't rip and burn movies (I actually don't download them either...), but one of my friends back in Ger. is an INSANE collector

I've done about 6 video DVD's - compilations of home video of my 18 mo old son and a wedding video I did for a friend. I will be doing several more in the months coming up as our family has 6 birthdays and my church has several productions I need to finish editing for them.
I'll probably be up to 100 by the end of the year!
I've also burned about 10 DVD-R and DVD-RW's for data backup. I usually back up my user data about once a quarter. (Besides my daily incremental ZIP drive backups of Quicken data and other doc's)
Copying movie DVD's sounds like such a waste of time to me. Esp. on a 1x or 2x burner like mine. I mean, what does a moview cost, $19? If I like a movie enough to actually want to keep a copy, I'd rather buy it and support the artists/studio that made it.

I make training videos for web/DVD use. I have created over 50 such training DVDs and burned probably 50 to 90 copies of each one.
Plus, I have done some video projects for friends and some simple weding video stuff.
All said, I am amazed at what I can do with a Mac/Superdrive and the free software and a 45.00 blank DVD. I used to use a pro studio (Avid) and pay big bucks for pro layout and burning of DVDs, and the ones I do on my Mac have the same 'look' much easier for ME to create and burn and I am not out the cost of stockpiling many DVDs I cannot send out.
I purchased FCE and love it, and I am eagerly awaiting a more prosumer DVD authoring package. 999 is too steep for DVDSP and iDVD is good but I will exceed its abiities some day.

I don't have one...
To those that do; is it worth the money? Mainly I am thinking for large scale back-ups.
Thanks.

Its pretty great, the RAM media is cheap and double-sided. Perfect for backup. Unfortunately I have to use DVD Studio Pro to burn DVD's.
APPLE MAKE iDVD WORK WITH EXTERNAL DRIVES!!!!
