it seems that every time I watched a QT movie full screen that my fans turned on right away, but when I watched it in VLC it too much longer, so I decided to do a simple test, I would simply play the same movie in both VLC and QT and find out the % processor in activity monitor. When I did the test QT was using ~55% and VLC was using ~15% at the same window size and both running flawlessly. Just wanted to see if others have the same problem and to see if there is a way to make QT more efficient.

I doubt there's any way to make Quicktime any less processor intensive. You might be able to fuddle around with settings for video quality and such, but it is what it is. The same thing goes for iTunes 7. Guess that's the in thing now...

quicktime does use up ram. when running 3 qt videos on my 512mb macbook, all the videos will get sluggish.
