Stuffit expander is a pile o' crapola, in my opinion. It asks to update every freaking time I use it, but I don't want to fill out a form to update some software that's already on my computer. They need to learn how to deal with human beings, and their tolerances. They have a piss-poor website, and everytime I tell sutffit expander not to search for a new update or ignore it, it 'unexpectedly quits' I think this is a flaw built into the program so people think they need to upgrade...

That's my rant for the day. It's been bugging me for some time now. I mean really, how hard is it to make a program that can download its own updates when needed? No website, no forms. People need to learn to be convenient...

You do realize that you can download the update WITHOUT signing up for anything or entering any of your information.

When you go to download the update/full download, pick the file you want, and right above the "Download Now" button, check the box that says "Do not send me email." Then click on Download Now and it'll send you directly to the links to download the update.

well you have two options. during the time it took you to write this thread you could have downloaded the update. or you cna just click dont remind me. i remember getting that all the time and i remember a button saying dont remind me. your may be different though. just go download the update and it will be over.

I just don't like the way they have their stuff set up. I guess I'm just so used to the Apple way of things being easy and all...

yeah i hate it too. everytime i unstuff it bounces up and down. then aladdins site is weird, really no easy way to download it. but you gotta do what you gotta do.

stuffit explander has worked like a charm for me. i told it not to bug me about updates, and it doesn't. i double-click on my .sit files and it unstuffs them into a folder on my dtop and closes itself. i don't even have to think about the program. that's the kind of transparency i appreciate.

It drives me crazy that everytime I use Expander, it re-starts my dialup connection, which I just ended. I suppose I should look deeper. :D

I get my updates through Version Tracker Pro, so I can't say that I've really encountered any problems.

Be nice to eyelikeart & vinow they just don't want anyone to miss the really good threads! ;)
