As in the title, it's a feeler. For one thing, I need to wait until my Mini ships and arrives at dontmakemehurtu's doorstep in good condition. And second, I'm not sure if I really want to. But this thread is just to see if it's a reasonable thing to do.

All I need is the lowest spec'd MacBook to trade for. It would be nice if it would be higher, but that may be asking too much.

Specs of the Powerbook:

17" Widescreen Display
1GHz PPC G4 processor
Superdrive
1GB RAM
60GB HDD
Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.8
Backlit keyboard
Good battery - 335 cycles
Airport Extreme, and Bluetooth

Looking for any MacBook. But remember, this is a FEELER. Send me offers, but I won't be able to trade it until my Mini is with dontmakemehurtu.

Let me know what ya got, thanks!

Did I mention I'd throw in a white 30GB video iPod?

i'm not interested in the offer (since i got me a MBP) but it sounds like a reasonable trade. might want to provide a better analysis of the battery - how new, how many charge cycles, etc.

The battery's age, I don't know. You'd have to ask dontmakemehurtu.

As for the rest, let me pull up iStat pro.

335 cycles.... anything else?

Can AppleCare still be purchased for it?

I doubt it. That laptop was released in 2003.. even if it had the 3 year warranty, it would nearly be up, I'd imagine.

I'm not sure if it still has it or not. You'd need to ask dontmakemehurtu.

I once called Apple and they did say you only had to pay $50 to agree to AppleCare (which I think brings back the 90 day). That was for an iBook G3, released in 2000, and I called September twenty-something of this year.

So I think it MAY be eligible/already holding AppleCare, if it was later purchased after receiving the Powerbook in '03. I am REALLY hoping to get a Macbook from this, so I'll do whatever has to be done.

I'm open to any question.

You can tell if it's under warranty simply by plugging in the serial number on the Applecare website.

Did I say it was about to fall through? I only asked you how slow it was, and you come back here trying to work a deal from under me?

Just give me your Pay Pal address and I will reimburse you for your 2 day shipping label and we will go our seperate ways. I think this was a filthy shot after we made an agreement.

No, I was NOT working a deal under you, it was just in case our deal DOES fall through. And I said it MAY fall through, not that it already has!

BTW, I don't sink as low as trying to trick 2 people into thinking that they're both getting a Powerbook when I have 1. You might've had this happen to you before, since you've "been ripped off so many times". Which, for all I know, may be just a way for me to feel sorry for you, ship first, me never get a package, resulting in YOU trying to rip ME off. But we don't know, do we? And I followed your standards, so I thought I was being nice.

I only posted that "it may fall through" because of all your standards. I thought you'd eventually say no with all those rules and stuff I HAD to follow. So, I was just trying to get a back up, just in case this deal fell through. But if it would go as planned, I would tell the other guy (or girl) that our deal went through, and turning down their offer.

"knives are no longer allowed on MR simply because of the current backstabbing theories/issues...instead we will use plastic sporks for all transactions"

thats what I think the sub-topic should read under the B/S/T threads
