How do poeple get banned?

How do people get banned in macrumors? Really, can't you just make another account and be back? And who has bee banned? Please don't hate me for asking these questions:(

Once in a while certain users cause problems on the forums, personal attacks, spamming, etc.

If it gets bad, you get banned. As for making another account, well, sure that can happen and has, but ip addresses are always logged and can be banned aswell.

spamming, starting flamewars, personally attacking other users, just generally being annoying or causing trouble.

When it comes down to it, if someone starts wasting too much of my or the moderator's time with unnecessary work (editing posts, sending warnings etc...) -- they will get banned very quickly.

Yes, people can start new accounts... but they lose their post counts, and depending on the severity of the problem, IP's or IP blocks are sometimes banned as well.

Members who are over inquisitive about the status of banned members generally get banned themselves.......
No, sorry about that, generally a member will receive a warning before he/she is banned from the boards, unless that member goes out of their way to cause trouble so I wouldn't worry about it, unless you plan on testing the waters yourself.

its not really all that important who gets banned, most of the time they're newbies coming in and causing problems, so you don't know who they are.

Shrek is an exception - he got banned twice....:rolleyes:

Depends on the content of those PMs he sent to the mods when the thread got closed. :rolleyes:

Though it looked like he was on the verge of firing off some rather colorful flames against the management of the site in his thread before it was closed.

If he said something really mean to the mods, or anyone else,
I can understand why he was out of here. But just what was
said in the 'should there be a religion forum' thread was not
enough to ban him in my opinion. But I'm not mad or anything. ;)
