I just picked up my shiny new 8GB Black Nano from the Apple Store soho today, but before I use it too much, I want to encase it in something to protect if from scratches and the like. I find that the resale value is much higher when it looks good. So, what protection do you guys recommend? I want to keep it slim, and don't need/like the "plastic box" cases, and I find the silicone cases a pain to get in and out of the pocket. What other options do I have?

Nice...but looks a little bulky.

but they should be light and strong (carbon fiber).
i love that stuff. if i could just substitute my car's metal body with that......

Invisible shields are wonderful. Not hard at all to apply on a nano, too.

Think they'll work on the new nanos, too? Considering they aren't a shiny gloss, but matte aluminum.

They've got new ones for sale for the new nanos.

Are you sure you need a case?

I use mine without one and I felt quite a lot asleep with my iPod and rolled over it during the night and it doesn't show any scratches at all.

EDIT: but I don't put the iPod together with my keys or lighter in my pocket.

If you toss it in your pocket the invisible shield will do little to protect it from pressure you put on it - the pressure may cause the lcd to crack and leak - If you have no need for dropping it in your pocket - then other cases are fine. The Shield protects from scratches and punctures - but the main damage that would inhibit the use would be a damaged screen.

What protects from that? A metal or as above carbon fiber case?

it's very unlikely for the nano to break from pocket pressure unless there's a LOT of stuff or the pants are really tight

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I just got a crystal film case from Shield Zone, and it's amazing! I found exactly what I wanted!
