The sooner the better. I am betting on April 28th. Don't know why I think that. For lack of a better reason, it is a Tuesday-even though that method had been proven wrong with the xServe and FCP4 updates.

Maybe because of this?

The "client" would presumably be the new iTunes currently in beta. Which is probably what iPods are waiting for, too.

I hope it's true about "all new releasese and many older tracks"... good selection (well, and price) is what will sell me. I'm already sold on the basic concept of buying just a few songs off an album--unless Apple's service turns out to be something totally different from that.

The three weeks thing seems arbitrary, like they just picked a (large) number out of nowhere and they hope to get lucky.

Apple has been really slow about everything, i think they will take until April 28th, 2004, to get the music service out.

i think that the music service will start with the update to 10.2.5, as there will certainly be updates to itunes as well, those will allow the music service and so on ?
Anybody got the same idea?

If this is the case with the Apple's music service, am I correct that you should be able to mix AAC with MP3 files on an iPod or HD? I don't even want to think about ripping 7000 tunes again.

Ah, yes. That is it. I knew I didn't come up with that dad all by myself. :)

dad? wtf? :D

I think that this could be very good for apple. The lower the
prices the better. 99 cents a song is okay, but I think 75 cents
would be even better. Not only for us, but for apple too.

Yeah, going through 100s of CDs and re-ripping them is definately not what I define as a fun time.;)
