I tried pulling the document into the trash and that didn't work. I thought that like a pc, I could right click on the file name and delete it but that didn't work either. How is it done on a MAC? I'm getting really frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

Wait, from where? Just throwing away a document in the Finder? Dragging it to the trash or doing Cmd+Delete should work.

All you have to do is drag it to the trash. Is it moving back to where it resides when you release it over the trash?
If so it could still be open in Word (or another app) or it could be 'locked'. To unlock a locked file. Click on it once to highlight it, then go to File > Get info and uncheck the 'locked' tick box.

So I can only delete from the finder is what you're saying??? I can't delete while I am in Word? Is that correct?

Oh, no. Any Open/Save dialog box in any application will not let you delete files. The rationale here is that these dialogs are for Opening, or Saving. Not other file management.

When you say 'document' do you mean the little file icon it creates on the harddrive or the actual open document that you type into?
You can only delete the icon that is wherever you saved it to. You cant drag your 'working page' to the trash if thats what you mean.
EDIT: Oh I see from killmoms post what you are trying to do. Yeh it doesnt work that way. :)
