I have a 400 MHz G4 daughter card from my Sawtooth -- I upgraded to a 1 GHz G4. Is that what you mean? I also have my old DVD/CD drive that I don't use.

Unfortunately that's the wrong type of CPU. The one for me would have to be purchased as an upgrade, or come from a Yikes! PCI G4. I would however be interested in that DVD drive. What would you want shipped (slowly) to 14623?

You can have the DVD/CD internal drive. PM me with your address and I'll ship it out in the next week or so. No charge.:)

Alright I emailed the guy on Mac4Sale, but it's a pretty old ad, so I'm still looking at the moment.

Hey, I know this isn't what you are looking for and is probably quite a bit out of your price range, but I have an Encore 1.0 or 1.1GHz G3 ZIF that I need to get rid of $85.

Tweakers:

Will that daughter card work with any B&W PowerMac? If so....

I don't know. I doubt it will work on a B&W....It was originally from my Sawtooth Powermac G4...sorry....

A card from a Sawtooth (or any other G4 with exception to a Yikes!) will NOT work in a G3. ANY G3. The G3 tower chip was a ZIF chipset, which looks essentially how you always imagine computer chips to look (square with a bunch of pins sticking out the back). The standard (read: Post-YIKES!) G4 chip has a different chipset interface; it is a narrow, rectangular set of angled pins. There is no physical way to make this chip work in a ZIF socket. And when buying an upgrade for a B/W, make ABSOLUTELY SURE you're getting a ZIF chip...

Hey does this ZIF use jumpers or is it plug and play? And what do you mean it's 1GHz OR 1.1GHz? I assume it's the 750GX chip...

Sorry about the thread hijack, but I'm too new here to start a new thread in the Marketplace...

I recently picked up a 450Mhz 'Sawtooth' G4 PowerMac, and am looking for a reasonable CPU upgrade for it. I just bought a 733 off eBay that was from a 'Digital Audio' G4 PowerMac, but the card is longer and the IDE connector on the motherboard interfears with it, so it won't work for me.

I paid $85 (including shipping), and if possible, I'd like to make at least *most* of it back selling it if I can, but I'd also be willing to trade it for a similar-speed CPU that *will* fit in a Sawtooth if anybody has one.

I looked into an upgrade CPU, but they seem to start at about $200, and that's what I paid for the whole computer, so I can't justify that to the wife at this point. I just want to give the box a little speed boost if I can.
