Seen it? I was disappointed. Anyway, does anyone know what that Rocky-kinda-Irish song was they used on it a couple of times?

Great song... Don't know what the hell it is...

I was dissapointed too - but at least it isn't typical in that there wasn't a happily-ever-after ending for the hero and his woman.

I really enjoyed it. Compared favorably to Infernal Affairs, the original incarnation. They changed the ending a bit to make it less Buddhist, but otherwise pretty faithful.

People are saying this is one of Scorsese's best and a bonafide Oscar contender. I'm all excited in seeing it, until they mention it's comes a second to Scorsese's Goodfellas. Goodfellas was an okay film when I saw it, didn't do much for me, so based on that comparison, I'm less excited about The Departed.

I don't know about anyone else, but I loved it. Thought it was well-paced, well-acted, and totally Scorsese...

Great movie.

Great acting all around.

Good story.

Less action, more drama, yet lots of death.

Yes have seen "The Departed" ... sorry just cant give Scorsese all the credit seeing how it was a remake! Yes, I have seen the original (The infernal affairs). Major elements were missing even the pivotal morse code (slight spoiler). The original was regarded as a classic and a "must-see" in Asia and to see it gets "Hollywood-ized" and changed around to fit into american culture just doesnt sit well with me (i.e. everyone gets a happy ending and you know very what I am referring to at the end).

However, I would give credit on the acting...which is superb. As for the directing...I still dont know what makes it so great that everyone refers to when compared to the original.

Lastly, I will say it can stand on its own as a movie...but if you really want to see the movie... I suggest watching the original as well.
