I notice the Apple store is showing AppleWorks 6.2.7 for sale. Is this the latest version?

6.2.7 is new... you're right, it's available via the Apple Store, and sports a new box design. However, on the Appleworks site (http://www.apple.com/appleworks) it still has the old box and a description of 6.2.4.

Appleworks is really one of the best, and certainly most underrated, pieces of software ever made. It is fast, easy to use, and integrates text, drawings, and pictures better than any software on the market.

When will the appleworks 7 probably come out. I ve saw some people speaking of it on this boards, but i m not sure whether to go no for 6.2.7 or wait for the 7.0 ???

Interesting... wonder why they updated the store picture but not the AppleWorks product page? Then again, their QuickTime VR Authoring Studio box still has the colored Apple logo on it. :p

Versiontracker still shows 6.2.4 as newest version.

Just for kicks:

It also seems a bit odd that the new AppleWorks box has only a pencil on it!

Back to ClarisWorks 1.0, there has always been an assortment of drawing and writing tools on the box and in the application icon.

I second that.

appleworks just seems to ugly for me, to classicy. i think with keynote out we will see a major revamp of all the software in appleworks and probably make me switch from office.

6.2.7 will be free. they've never charged for minor updates like this... i just wish they'd put it up for download... i know it probably won't be any different, but it's still nice having the newest versions :)

i too love Appleworks... just wish it had better features...

I've had 6.2.6b for some time now, I wonder if they will revamp appleworks soon?

good job spotting that one, I doubt much will change with Appleworks 6.2.7 but I will download it none-the-less, I really can't wait for a new Appleworks that follows in the footsteps of Keynote.

are there any noticible differences? does it finally use smartscrolling and anti-aliased text?

there is nothing majorely noticable, I haven't really dived into it and looked around, it does include anti-aliasing or font smoothing as its called in the prefs.
