Other items from a previous sale were sold, but I still have available a 20" Apple Cinema Display (the acrylic-framed version from 3 years ago) - $299 + shipping from zip 01810.

The monitor, formerly part of a bundle sale, can be seen here:

http://formymac.com/MR/pmg5bundle2_small.jpg (http://formymac.com/MR/pmg5bundle2_big.jpg)

The monitor has no dead pixels but has a small (~1-2mm) scratch on the outer surface of the screen - this is not noticeable but I mention it only because otherwise the monitor is in perfect shape.

The scratch, photographed to show it in the worst possible light (it doesn't look this bad in real facing-the-monitor use, where it's barely visible), can be seen here in the center (note the scratch compared to dust on the screen - it's tiny):

I'll post additional shots if requested when I get home.

PM me if you're interested. :)

Love the desk. Are you selling it?

Sorry, forgot to include that. ADC connection (USB, power, DVI in one plug), two USB ports on the back (1.1, I think, but I forget).

You'll need an ADC graphics card or a (DVI + USB + power) -> ADC adapter.

Half of it went with the PMG5, but, yes, the other half comes with the monitor, free of charge. ;)

how much do ADC converters go for?

a quick google search said 760 bucks. can't be, could it?

ahh never mind, i see that was a usb+dvi+audio 4-way switcher.

so in this case could you get the $30 adc-to-dvi cable, and use a usb cable as opposed to spending over 75 on the actual converter?

also, with that setup, could you use the display with a windows pc?

I think they are normally $50-$60.

Check the eBay

An ADC monitor requires power, which it would normally get from the ADC card, via the adapter.

With the appropriate adapter, though, it works like any other DVI monitor on any system. ADC is literally just DVI + USB + power in one cord.

just one more question, how would a monitor fare if it were being used on an ibook.. going VGA -> VGA-to-DVI -> DVI-to-ADC -> ADC

granted that's alot of plugs, would the resolutions and quality still be there?

Assuming the adapters worked properly, the DVI->ADC bit is essentially flawless - pin-to-pin direct conversion - so it'd all depend on the VGA->DVI conversion, which I'd expect to be pretty good.

I am not sure if you can hook an iBook up to it at all. I don't think you can do that VGA DVI to DVI ADC to ADC cord on the back of the display.

Sending PM anyway. Anyone have any idea about the possiblity of an iBook connecting to this display?

AFAIK, it will work. The monitor would plug into the ADC->DVI+USB+power converter, which would then plug into (a) the wall, (b) the USB port, and (c) the DVI->VGA adapter, which would plug into your iBook. Same as a DVI port, but with that one extra adapter.

This monitor is primarily of value to those with unused ADC ports or with smaller-than-20" ADC displays, but it would work as long as you had the converter.

Price drop: $250 + anything over $30 in shipping fees (i.e., if it ships for less than $30, you pay nothing for shipping).

You PayPal me the $250 (plus credit card fees, if you use one - 2.9% + $0.30). I ship it. You PayPal me the excess shipping cost over $30 (if any). I ship UPS, insured for $250, signature required. You choose the speed.

Offer good in US; I'd consider elsewhere if no one buys it here.

What is the resolution, and how hard would it be to get this to work with a macbook pro?

Everymac.com has it listed at the following resolutions: 1024x640, 1280x800, 1680x1050 (optimum)

You'd have to use the DVI - ADC converter with any computer that doesn't have an ADC port, like the Macbook Pro.

The resolution is 1680x1050 (edit: and lower resolutions are supported, as noted above - but who runs an LCD at lower resolutions? :)). To get it to work with a MBP, you'd need a DVI+USB+Power->ADC adapter (go to the Apple Store and search for "Apple DVI to ADC Display Adapter" - note that they're much cheaper on eBay). Note that you need an adapter with a power supply, as the ADC gets everything - including power - over the one cord. There are also much cheaper ADC->DVI adapters that let you plug a DVI monitor into an ADC port - that's not what you need.

Really tempting! I'd bought it if I don't need a monitor for my pc and G5 at the same time.

Yes it is. I will close the thread when I've received payment. As long as the thread is open, the monitor is still available.

Two questions:

1) would this work with a MacBook (NOT pro) with the same mini DVI --> ADC adapter listed on the Apple site?

2) Would you consider shipping to the Netherlands? :D

Well, yes and yes, but...

Sorry, but at the same time you asked, I received a PM from someone in the States. It's now sold and shipped. For what it's worth, if you're going to add in the ADC adapter (i..e, you don't have an ADC system), it's probably better to buy a new DVI monitor there than pay to ship an old ADC one from here. :)
