Mini-DVI to VGA

i have never seen a picture of this cable so i was wondering if this cable connects the iMac directly to the vga port of the monitor or do i need a vga cable that connects the adapter to the screen?

You need a VGA cable...monitors with VGA inputs should come with them, but I suppose manufacturers are cutting corners these days and just including DVI cables.

Edit: well, that's the mini DVI to DVI, but you get the picture...
