Firstly

Motor Storm. An interesting and incisive interview and preview adorns this months industry respected Edge magazine.

Developer :-
"As many will have anticipated, it's NOT going to be enjoyed in 1080p. 1080p I think, has got an awful lot of future - lot's of positves" says Benson. "We decided on 720p very early on in the project. What you find now is that you're tarting to get TV's that say 'Yes, we are true HD - we're native 1080p', But if you try and actually find one, they're very rare"

The game is also fixed at 30 FPS to try and have a smooth gaming experience.

Seem's we'll be waiting a while before proper 60 FPS in next gen titles finally materialises, PS3 or 360

He also add's an interesting bit on BluRay

Parody In Blu
"Again, it's one of these things - it's a great opportunity like 1080p"
"These things are all here to be exploited. but like with PS2 development, as soon as you hit the barriers you've got to spend an awful lof of creative energy knocking those barriers down"...

However it's lead programmer comments that are far more interesting below...

Scott Kirkalnd " One thing BluRay lets us do is get every single version of the game on one disc"....

This might explain the big claims weve been hearing from Sony and some developers about size. There is simply every version in every language and hence every audio track, movie etc... all crammed onto there. A good usage of space for publishers, as it saves them having to manufacture more than 1 blu-ray disc - but they are not technically using the entire disc for the 1 game like the claims weve been hearing from others...

Scott Kirkland " However were pretty set on having one version of motorstorm for all territories, so it's not going to help us this time".

So as we all suspected PS3 games will generally be no real bigger in size than Xbox 360 in reality.

Next Rainbow Six Vegas.

Although Rainbow Six Vegas is a multiformat videogame, during our trip we were only shown the Xbox 360 and PSP versions. Little is known of the playstation 3 edition, but a chat with Ubisoft development team shed a little light on the matter.

"All I'm able to say is that we're looking to ship on PS3 as well but we're not having specific content" revealed Poirer
"Were developing with 360 as our main development platform and porting to PS3 means there is less memory available for us to use, but were trying to minimise any drop in quality, that's for sure"

Such comments suggest that the gap in peformance between the PS3 & Xbox360 is nowhere near as powerful as some would like us to believe and that the console may even be less able than Microsoft's. It's an intriguing prospect, but we'll reserve judgment until the final code is in our hands.

Since PS3 vegas will not feature face-mapping technology like the 360 version, we asked the team if the PS3 would have similar little tricks up it's sleeve.

On the subject of the controller "There are NO plans to make use of the tilt function yet, but that would be the producers decision" Likewise the team were similarly dismissive of plans to link up to the PSP version.

So there you have it. Not only will PS3 owners now have to wait till March for their first Pal games, but in this case at least, it's unlikely that there'll be anything to make the Playstation version worth waiting for.....

Motorstorm is really the only exclusive for the PS3 that I am interested in- that, and maybe Warhawk. Motorstorm just looks very, very cool to me. Granted, I'm not going to get a PS3 anyways.... but I just really like that game. :)

yeah it's i guess the only remotely interesting ps3 exclusive coming out soon

(sorry but resistance with it's "ww2 shooter with evil aliens who just happen to be islamic terrorists and by some weird mistake also nazis" story is simply too much for me ... yeah i made that up after "aliens" but i wouldn't be surprised...

its first gen games, did everyone expect all the Sony hype to be true right away? Give the devs more time...

Did anyone ever expect Sony's hype to come true?

I didn't, though the PS3 certainly looks interesting and now that I have a job I might try to pick one up. I'll be grabbing more games for the X360, sure, but maybe an exclusive or two (like RFoM and MGS4) I'll grab for the PS3.
