iMac 450 firewire ports question? help!

I have an old iMac Ruby 450 DV and my firewire ports i think have gone bad a minute ago! has anyone had this problem? or know what i could do to fix this to make them work? Please help!

what is the problem? Did you have something plugged in that all of a sudden stopped working? If it is a drive can you see it on the desktops, Disk Utility? Explain what you were doing or trying to do.

Did you possibly plug in something with the cable upside down? I know that it's hard to tell on those computers if you're putting it in the right way. if you did, you could've shorted out the firewire controller.
