Sometimes when I open my macbook when it's sleeping it makes this weird crackling noise for a couple seconds. Is this normal?

Can you please explain why this is normal? I just bought a MacBook Pro 13" and hear this noise (like wood burning or like a the recycle bin being emptied) every time I open the lid of my sleeping macbook.
