Hello!

I have been trying to find out which panel model the latest 23" Cinema Display is using. I believe it is either LG.Philips LM230W02 or LM230WU3.

Can anyone verify the correct panel model?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Information on the updated ACD's have been hard to come by. There is also another thread here about how to tell whether you have an new one or not. Apparently, any serial# over 2A6281 is fine and some sites can tell you when it was manufactured. However, the boxes they ship on are the same as when they first came out and Apple's Support Site does not have the updated specs, only the Products Page.

It is using the LM230WU3. I say that because the specs match.

Thanks everyone! I was hoping it uses the newer LM230WU3 panel and it seems so from what I have gathered from different sources. Older Cinema Displays used the LM230W02 panel.

If and when I buy one I must be extra careful to get a newer model.

Hey I just received my new ACD 20" from the Apple online store. It says it's model number A1081 on the under edge. Is that the old specs model? It's hard to tell.

Not sure. On the Bottom it reads: Apple Computer, Cupertino California 95014, Model Number A1081

Ah yes i'm a retard it says 2A6190 ******

Edit* I checked it on cinemafraud and it says that it was made in May 2006. Does that mean it's not the brand new model? Should I contact Apple?

Edit** Ahh March saw the new models, so May looks safe then?

It is very possible you have been sold an older model, especially since you live in Europe. According to cinemfraud on this forum, he stated that Apple was not yet shipping refreshed models to Europe, however that changed about a week or two ago I believe. He actually returned the older one and was shipped a new one. So you should call Apple and let them know ASAP.

Haven't followed this story too closely, but that's what it looks like.

2A63131
You can test the serial number at: http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html

Serial number 2A6313XXXXX gives following:
Production year: 2006
Production week: 31 (August)
Production number: 4553 (within this week)

I don't know though if that means it is a new panel... There is more information in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=593267&tstart=0

I have just set it up and it looks like there is one stuck pixel.
I'm not bothered about the pixel as it is not noticable just looks like a piece of dust in the screen.

more importantly is that there is some bad backlight bleed in the bottom left corner and across the top.

looks like it is going back,as it is going to be used for video work.

Bad news. Chances are you arent going to get a 23" without backlight bleed. I went through 3 and they all had it. Most people on the Apple Discussion have it as well.
