Does emac automatically degauss.

My old 21" studio monitor used to automatically degauss everytime it was restarted. It also had a 'degauss' button in the software calibrator. You could hear the distinctive degausing sound.

There is no 'degauss' button on the emac and I was wondering if it did this automatically on start up and if it doesn't, does it matter.

The eMacs and most modern CRTs automatically degauss when they are turned on. Some may be louder than others. Here is an Apple support article on it. I've never seen a degauss option in the System Preferences, but it may be there, I just may have missed it.
