I must say, Apple is doing a good job in marketing. The "Apple Students" group is probably one of the largest groups on Facebook. I just "befriended" the iPod nano Green (who was a 26-year old male just last night but now is 99). The profiles for the Green, Pink, and Blue nanos are beautifully done too. The graphic "equalizer" of sorts is also cool too.

I wonder if myspace like this usage for corporate advertising. Either way, hats off to Apple for using new ways to get their marketing message across.

Yeah, I don't know. I'm actually inclined to agree with the original article on the matter. It makes some amount of sense, and I'm sure it's similar to how Apple worked with Facebook on that whole dilly-o.

Details of the tie-in are currently unavailable, however this is likely to be a collaboration between Apple Marketing & MySpace directly. All clicks made from the page are routed through an external ad agency, so it is likely that MySpace is set to make a tidy commission from every iTunes song or iPod nano purchased from any of the pages.

Anyroad, it's an interesting way of advertising, and I do find it kinda cute how each nano has the other nanos as friends. I'm not a member of MySpace [or Facebook], so I don't know how the whole process works, but it's kinda clever. These are probably the best MySpace profiles I've seen and ever will see... at least it doesn't drag my browser to a crawl.

I just stumbled across the profiles for the new nanos on Myspace. I want to borrow those elements for my own profile. At least now we know what it would look like if Apple had their hand in designing profiles.
