Is core audio corrupt?

Hey, it appears core audio some how was corrupted. When I run garage band it unexpectedly quits before it even fully starts up and when i run Ableton live it unexpectedly quits when i select internal core audio for the output. I can't make heads or tails of it. please help.

no, I'm not running an interface. Just the macbook alone.
