Greetings,

I was brave enough to try to replace my hard drive on my ibook g4 since it was no longer working. Well I was able to open everything up just fine but when I got to the hard drive I broke the orangish cable that is attached to the front of the hard drive. Now I am trying to reinstall the OS and the ibook can now longer see the hard drive. I can put the hard drive in my external drive case and read/see it on my other mahcines but not on the ibook. The piece I broke, can I get it replaced or repaired and also what does it do?

Thanks,

Mike

did you open up the disk utility and format the hard drive? you need to do that.

I have formatted it on my other mac but it is not recognized.
I have been to ifixit.com but I am not sure of what I should call it so I can look for the part.

*sigh*, so I guess just looking up your iBook size/speed and going with all (http://www.ifixit.com/cart/customer/home.php?m=83&a=47&c=-1) is a little challenging?

I hate to say it but it sounds like you don't really know what your doing and perhaps shouldn't be trying to install your own HD.
