Raid setup question [Archive]

I just got this (http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/MEFW912AL2/) external enclosure to setup a raid array with two 500gb drives. Got everything plugged in, went in to disk utility and it seems it's already setup as a raid array. It showed up as one disk, unformatted, at 931gb. I formatted it, and it shows up properly on my desktop as one disk.

My question is, I didn't need to create the raid, so am I correct in that this enclosure already came formatted so I don't need to do anything? My two drives are already setup in raid 0? Disk Utility wouldn't let me create a raid presumably for this reason? I'm not sure how to check which way these two drives are setup.

According to OWC, the unit ships set up for raid 0. They have instructions (http://eshop.macsales.com/tech_center/index.cfm?page=manuals/mercuryfirewire/format/raid/raid.html) on how to change the setup.

That's what I thought. I want raid 0 so I'll keep it as is. Thanks.
