I have an Audigy 2 PCMCIA installed on my toshiba satellite notebook and I recently purchased the logitech z-5300 speakers (2.1). I was wondering if I should use the included adaptor for SPDIF to hook up the speakers (leaving two of the connectors in the adaptor free of use), or simply hook them up directly into the optical out port. Will there be any difference in sound quality in music?

Thanks in advance, Miguel.

The audigy 2 pccard may have a dual optical/analog output jack, like the macs do.

If the speakers have an optical in, then I would take a toslink cable directly from the audigy 2 optical out to the speakers.

If your speakers do not have an optical input, then just connect them with a regular 1/8" audio cable from the audigy 2 card (same port).

I think the adapter that comes with that audigy pccard is for 5.1 speakers, not 2.1.
