Replacing modem in ibook...

Anyone here know how to replace the modem in an original clam shaped ibook? Mine recently cracked into two pieces making connection a bit difficult. Diagrams would be really helpful as well as any instructions. Thanks! Sorry for the bother.

Its pretty simple actually assuming you know your way with a screwdriver...

It basically just pops out after you unscrew everything, I'll find the service manual for it in a jip.

Once upon a time there were things on Apple Support dealing with this, but for the love me I cannot find 'em!

Just be very careful, and keep track of the screws. I've taken apart the same iBook 3 times (HD upgrade, then the upgrade died, so I replaced it, and something else...)

Well, I have a screw that I have no idea where it goes.

I'm surprised your iBook is still running. Mine has pretty much bit the dust. It still works, but it's on and off...

I have once tinkered with it a couple of years ago long after my Apple warranty expired, however I got cold feet before I really went very far with it.

Actually, I just realized that the manual vniow sent may not have all of the information I might need. I am going to look to look for that one post I made a month or so ago about the hard drive question I had.

Still very grateful for all the help.
