I have had no problems with sound and my MacBook Pro installation.
Are you certain that you've installed all of the drivers from the Mac-side CD that you burned when running Boot Camp Assistant?
Are there any yellow or red flags on any devices in Device Manager?

I have experienced quite an odd problem with sound when running windows on my macbook in bootcamp. If i turn off or restart the laptop when the volume is muted, the next time i start it there will be no sound of any kind working. When i try to turn up the volume nothing happens (the usual mac volume turn up/down noise dosnt even happen). The only way to get any sound again is to make sure the volume is up and then restart the laptop. This is a really annoying thing, and i'm guessing its a problem with boot camp. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hey Guys,
I have the same problem, I installed boot camp; windows is not seeing my sound card or even my external speakers. The only way I can have any sound is through my internal speaker which is pretty bad. Can anyone help me out? What steps should I take in order to fix this annoying issue. Thanks in advance:confused:

I've had the same problem... no sound at all when using XP when the sound was muted when I booted up.
I turned the volume back on and restarted. Everything was fine. That seems to have solved the problem.

I recently got a MBP and notice this same no-sound issue with Windows XP when I boot via Boot Camp where the OSD volume seems to work, but no sound comes out of the speakers or via the headphone jack.
There is this thread at Apple might work for someone: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7646330
That particular fix did not work for me -- I still have to run the KB executable referenced in the thread, or re-install the Apple provided RealTek sound driver every time to get sound.
So, just checking to see if anyone has come up with a solution....

Same issue here. I'd like to know a fix that doesn't involve rebooting.

Are you guys using VMware at all?
I have a similar issue that if the sound is muted in VMware, then I boot into bootcamp the sound no longer works..

I use VMware but this issue is, apparently, different from yours since mine doesn't involve running Fusion but just seems to be a function of running XP natively but perhaps they stem from the same root cause?

I do have Fusion 2 installed, but I haven't noticed if muting from VMware disables sound in Boot Camp across a reboot.
But I can confirm that as with other posters, as long as I don't mute sound in Windows before rebooting, my sound works fine across Boot Camp reboots.
Also, even if I do accidentally mute in Windows before shutting it down, the simplest fix next time I boot it up seems to be to disable the Realtek audio in the Hardware Manager, and then re-enabled it. It's a kludge of course, but certainly easier than reinstalling the drivers or running that KB.exe.

i found this on another forum
"Yeah I've had this issue a couple of times. It's because the Macbook Pro features a digital out jack.
Did you notice every time you plug something in, the Realtek drivers spot it and let you know with a bubble? (in Windows) Well, that whole detection is flawed.
All you need to do is plug in a pair of headphones, let it stay for like 10 seconds, and then take them out. The sound will magically reappear.
That's how it went for me. Let me know if that helps..."
I tried the headphone trick and it works perfectly for my white 13.3 mb.only solution i have found other then a restart

Yeah I have also been doing this for ages. I find it dosen't always work though, probably about 7/10 times.
Also, sometimes when my macbook comes out of sleep mode (whilst booted in windows) all the ports down the left side wont work (usb ports, firewire, charging port, headphone out etc), anyone else found this?
Would really like to find a fix to these bugs, can be so annoying.
