I absolutely love my Mac Pro, but the reason behind buying it was for a film edit I was planning to do around November time. I just found out the project wont be happening now till around the summer time, so I am torn about whether I should just keep the MacPro or sell it off and purchase when the time comes around to really needing it. So I'm trying to see wht kind of interest is out there for this machine. I would sell it as follows:
Quad 3Ghz Intel Xeon
1GB FB-DIMM RAM (2x512MB)
500GB 7200RPM HD
Nvidia 7300GT 256MB
Bluetooth 2.0+EDR
I payed (after tax) $3772.82 from the Apple Store. Is anyone interested in acquiring the machine? It is in absolute perfect condition; not a smudge or scratch on it. Even the keyboard and mouse that came with it were never opened from there plastic (I used another keyboard and mouse). Is it wise to sell it now and buy when I need it come summer or just hold on to it? I already have a macbook Pro that I can use in the mean time ...

Hold on to it.
Use it in the mean time.
It can be used for play too, not just work.

If you're not using it and can get a good price for it, then sell it.
As you say you also have a MacBook Pro, which you could easily use in the meantime.

it depends id keep it, it is a great machine and i doubt the next revision will be THAT much better but, if you can afford to wait it wouldnt hurt to sell it offand get what you can then.

If you can get near what you paid for it, then sure, I'd get rid of it for now and buy when you need it.. but I definitely don't think it's worth selling if you're going to lose much on it.

Thanks for the advice all. I certainly don't want to take a loss as the machine is pretty new.
I guess it would be dependant on offers from anyone interested. I'll leave it open for now and see what people are willing to pay for it.

Well put it this way - your talking a loss on it every day you hold onto it. Computers are NOT an investment.
If you sell this now and get back 80% of what you paid - you are doing well. That money could then be put towards the inevitable 2 x 4-core Xeon which should defiantly be in the range by Summer 07
Should you hold onto the mac pro - and then your hit with a flood of desire for the new models come Summer, the price you will fetch for your mac pro will be dramatically less.
