I'm a "switcher" and just realized that moving an icon to the trash deletes the whole program! Yikes!!! I already emptied my trash and now my calculator is gone since the icon was in there. Any chance I can get calc back?

Thanks for any help.

Yeah, there are a couple ways. The easiest is to send me a private message with your email address, and I'll send it to you.

The OSX calculator program isn't that great though (how the heck did they manage to write a slow calculator?). There are plenty of shareware/freeware ones if you look around.

One word: iCandy

Personally, I use PCalc. It is much faster than Calculator and does a lot more advanced math. Also does binary/hex/dec conversions, which is nice for checking my answers in CS class.

Just curious.. what else did you expect to do when you moved the program to the trash?

If you thought it was a shortcut (called 'aliases' on a mac), it will have an arrow on the bottom-left side of it to indicate that. If not, its the original.

I was a Windoze user for 10 + years and when you move an icon to the trash, it's just that....only putting the icon in the trash. I'm still new to Mac, about 7 months now.

Wouldn't it still be in the trash until you emptied it?

I just did buy pcalc from http://www.pcalc.com/, and it's indeed a far better calculator for a tech person.

I just read this old Post..but it is my problem now!
I had the calculator app. but the second user on my Mac suddenly lost it. When I tried to get it over to him, I lost mine.
(I find the Mac to be extremely sensitive. Leaves no room for the slightest error!)
I did look at other sites for assistance and they recommended going to PACIFIST. That, too, is missing from the Utilities folder.
I don't have the disk for Snow Leopard (it was installed at the store.)
Is there a way to get the app. back? (I don't know much about computers!)
I hate to call the Techs., because I feel so "stupid" when they ask me questions.
I feel lost without that calculator. I'm not crazy about the appearance of the one in Widgets.
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give me.
