motorola T720 all the way. it's the only phone that packs the features i want into a decent form factor. 'Course, the OS isn't the greatest, but i can live with it...

i just wish verizon didn't suck so much as a provider :P locking me out of features on my phone... blah...

Well, considering I just dropped my Nokia 3395 a couple weeks ago, it was a good excuse to take the plunge and buy a Sony Ericsson T68i. Ahhh, Bluetooth... now if I only had it on my computer... :p

I thought my Nokia 3395 was tiny, but they just keep getting smaller! The T68i is at least 15% smaller. But you get used to it...

I have the T720 from Motorola and I'm begining to wish I had the T68i. It's not that it's a bad phone or anything, it's just not as mac friendly as the T68i. I'm on the T-mobile network, if anyone want to trade me phones! PM me!

my ericson is three years old, and it was the shiznit when i got it. best part is, it came with voice dialing, adn at&t (my service provider) recently called me to ask if i wanted to upgrade to a voice-dialing activated phone. then again, their telemarketers call me once a week to ask me if i want to get an at&t wireless phone and account. idiots.

Heh, I have a Motorola Talkabout that got itself into the washing machine. And then it was stupid enough to get itself in the dryer! I kinda heard something banging around, but I was too lazy to see what it was before I left the laundry room. Anyway, my phone took a 30 minute swim in hot water, and then thunked around in a dryer on high heat for an hour. When I found the phone in my jeans pocket it was too hot to hold and yet still dripping wet! I figured it was hosed, no piece of electronic equipment can survive that kind of abuse! But I let it dry out for an hour, and it works fine! Absolutely unbelievable. Anyway, I just got a t68i because I wanted the bluetooth and mac-friendliness. I'm fairly certain that if I let a sprinkle of rain get on the t68i it will die immediately. And the T-Mobile service is terrible in my area. I have a lot of trouble explaining to my friends that I traded in a super durable phone with a great service plan for a fragile phone with no service just because it's a cool toy for my Mac!

I have a sanyo, and I hate the little mother *******. It reminds me of pc's sometimes. Has too many features, most of which dont work right, and the layout sucks like none other. It has a crumy color lcd with 2 dead pixles and poor response time. lots of ghosting when fliping through menues tops it all off.

Its battery life is extremly good though.

Thats the last time I let the wife buy a phones.

Where's Siemens? There are a lot more Siemens phones than some other brands mentioned (Motorola, Sanyo, Panasonic).
I've got an M35i myself, my network is T-Mobile.

Well, maybe not the battery, but it is perfectly right to do that to the electronics parts. They do this kind of cleaning in the factory (but with different cleaning agents) so it was just a deja vu for your phone!

I would have had a Treo, before the days of bluetooth, or a SonyEricsson t68i, but the decisionultimately isn't mine, it is the carriers marketing in the area.

I wish consumer demands had more influence on what IS available.

Add another check for Kyocera. I don't know what model it is... let me check under the battery... ummm 2035a? Whatever was their popular low end model about 2 years ago is what I have. Pretty good phone, it's been dropped a time or two with no problems.

I'm using a Samsung A400, bought it last April, pretty much a few weeks before they discontinued the sucker. But I love it, only thing it is missing (as far as I am concerned) is a called-id display ont he outside (the A420 has that).

I've been a Nextel user for quite a few years now. In the construction business it's hard to get by with out one.

My biggest grip is the lack of etiquette people have when using the two way radio:

"Hey, you there?"...Yes but I'm in a meeting.
"Hey, you there? ... Yes but I'm on the other line.
Beep beep beep...clear... beep beep beep... I'm with a customer, I'll get back to you.
"$#@@...!#@%" ... I appreciate that and so does your boss who is here with me.

Sometimes folks just have no manners.

I have a "Neekogda", made in Bulgaria. It's missing the "4" key and screams instead of rings. To get good reception I have to be at least 500 feet above sea level. I got it becasue I felt sorry for the folks at the factory, who lived under the Soviet 5-year plan for way too long.

LG VX4400 = the best phone verizon offers. I would have like some of the cooler GSM phones but GSM coverage is sub par atbest unless you live in a large city.

Verizon seems very good. I have only had them for about a month (had Sprint) and they seem to have the best coverage out of any of the other providers although they are more pricey.

And to person who was was mad because of the limitations verizon puts on the phones. You can get around them easily. do a search for GAGIN, i think it works on the T720. Check out Howardforums.com and wirelessadvisor.com. I was able to make this my backround: http://homepage.mac.com/themosco/.Pictures/applebanner2.jpg

I've only had two phones, a generic freebie Motorola and a Motorola StarTac, which I got for $9.99 after markdowns and a huge corporate discount.

I'm not sure what I'd choose next time, but I like the style of the Samsung phones.

This sounds eerily similar to my experience with the T68 (minus the dead pixels). I love the level of intimacy it shares with my Mac, but it's slower than a 386 PC and it "crashes" way too often -- usually about once or twice a day. When that happens, I must pull out the battery and snap it back in to "reboot" the phone.

I've thought about having its firmware upgraded to the T68i, but SonyEricsson wants about $40 to do the job, and I'd have to ship it to them, thus depriving me of a phone for about a week.

Anyone used BOTH the original T68 AND the T68i? Is the difference worth the pain of upgrading, or should I just wait for their next little gem to come out?

Kyocera 6035 here. Would love to get either a Treo or the new color version of my current Kyo, but will have to wait another year before I can.

Love the convenience of not having to carry around a cell phone AND a PDA. Love the sharing of data between the PDA and the cell phone.

Great phone!

Nextel i90c baby, nothing beats direct connect for keeping in touch with friends and family. pretty soon they'll have nationwide direct connect which means i'm a touch of a button away from communicating with any Nextel subscriber across the county, even Hawaii...

Nextell isn't GSM, its IDEN which is why Moto is the only company that makes phones for them.

I have an Audiovox CDM-9500 with a color screen. It is a great phone, though it does not seem to be as sturdy as my previous Kyocera. I use it as a modem with a USB cable to my iBook, and the data service is included in every Verizon price plan, so it only uses my minutes.

I wanted a T68, but Verizon does not have them and I do not want to switch providers Cingular, T-Mobile, and AT&T are all really crappy in my area. The only providers that get service are Verizon, Sprint, and Nextel. I already had Verizon so I stuck with them.

for the last 2 days I have had a LG VX4400. - kind of big, and i haven't quite figured out all the menus.

before that I used a Motorola T720. very small and thin for a flip phone. Menu's weren't great, but better than the LG.

On Monday I will be getting a Kyocera 7135 Smartphone. Hoping that the palm function will sync with my mac with out issues.

I also have a t68i that i just gave to my wife. Although I love to use the bluetooth with sony ericson clicker to control my mac. I used it on Tuesday for a keynote presentation. Makes the pc guys in my office look like chumps!

LG (Lucky Goldstar) TM510 thru Verizon.

Flip Phone, very plain black, industrial looking almost. No bells & whistles, but great sound quality. OEM battery was terrible. Upgraded to bigger battery, now happy with everything except phone book, which lists entries numerically instead of alphabetically.

And I've been very happy with Verizon's service.

samsung a500.
bad thing about samsung now is that they are putting out phones every month now, and they do not seem as durable as they used to be. sam 8500 was the shiznit.
i am in the cell phone business and i can say this:
motorola: outside of nextel, most of their phones are made poorly. startac, v60, v120 with the retractable antennas all had issues with their antenna durability.
sanyo: makes incredible phones for sprint. strongest signal available for sprint.
samsung: best color lcd, usually has the best features in terms of usability and reliability.
sony/ericsson: before sony they had the worst q.c. their color screens are nothing to get excited about, but their phones are better now with sony onboard.
nokia: other than their newest, and mostly euro-gsm phones; most of their stateside phones are kinda cheap and behind in the technology. the kiddies love them because they are customizable
kyocera: sucked when they first took over qualcomm's phone division, but they seem to have made great progress with their newest phones
l.g. a phone per week i think is their motto. they do offer good features at cheap prices if you're not the sucker who buys it the day it comes out.
siemens: not as much experience here yet, but they are very reliable and durable
