I ordered my 17 inch MBP on the 26 and it isnt supposed to be shipped until the 9th. In the mean time, I want to get a semi-nice case to have waiting here when it arrives. What is the best case that will offer the most protection and wont break my wallet( kinda broke after the 2700 MBP). Thanks

ps. I have officially become part of the masses. Switched from Windows to Mac after 10 years.

Can't go wrong with the Brenthaven 17. I've had the 15 for a few years now and I've been really happy with it.

Having said that, I just ordered the cozmo combo from SFBags for my new 17". Just for a change of pace. Getting tired of picking up the same old black Brenthaven several hundred days in a row. :)

Awesome cases, lots of choices. I have the sleeve, messenger pack style, with a shoulder strap, over the top flap, and then the small bag attachment.

I dont have my 17inch book yet but i ahve tested the rest of the space and my external HD, mouse, cables and whatnot all fit nicely!

The bags are extremely well crafted and the customer service was excellent.

I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I have an STM messenger style bag that I like. It's simple and understated.

I ordered a Crumpler "Dreadful Embarrassment" messenger bag. As ^^^, I was tired of carrying the same old black brick around day after day. I've heard nothing but good things about Crumpler. Their US Web site is pretty whacked out, too.

i ordered a Timbuk2 Blogger (http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/retail/catalog.htm?categoryId=2&skusetId=157) in the hopes that it will fit a 17" MPB - i will let you know when both the bag and the laptop get here.

i second Waterfield bags, they are exceptional. i got the timbuk2 because i wanted something smaller and different than what they offer.

Im totally in the same boat...I reallyyy need a new case am am looking for something a little more on the business/formal/young side...so no crumpler or timbukt2 but not brenthaven either, preferably leather, but it seems its nearly impossible to find something nice yet affordable for a 17''.

Im likingstyles like knomo (www.knomobags.com (http://www.knomobags.com)), but theyre way too expensive.

also stuff like vaja http://www.vajacases.com but they dont offer a 17'' case and theyre even more expensive.

Any ideas?

Im a young college grad working in finance and i really want to impress clients when i walk into a meeting.

There's always the usual ones people suggest:

STM http://www.stmbags.com

Tumi http://www.tumi.com

Chrome http://www.chromebags.com - I like these too...

Axio http://http://www.axio-usa.com/

Kensington http://www.kensington.com

Crumpler http://www.crumplerbags.com

Timbukt2 http://www.timbuk2.com

Beez http://www.be-ez.com

Incase (Look in apple store)

Hope that helped some...

I think i found the bag im getting...

after a lot of searching, i think im going to go with a bag by Nava Design(http://www.navadesign.com)

A lot of their Ego line of bags are made for laptops and are pretty trendy for $100-$200. That's about what i'm willing to spend and i think it will give the young professional look I'm looking for. I'll need to buy a sleeve but oh well they seem like really cool bags and the specs show they have room for a 17'' and then some without looking tacky, perfect for carrying around bound reviews and other paperwork.

do any of you have experience with any of these? It doesn't seem like they're very well known but if any of you have heard anything id be really interested...

Anyone have, or have seen, the Brenthaven Metro Deluxe (http://www.brenthaven.com/catalog-metro-deluxe.html)? Looks nice, functional with a fair amount of room for peripherals, plus room for a few files, yet seems to be a reasonable size and durable. Apple has them in-stock, and I'm gonna need a good bag for my sweet Merom 2.33GHz coming on Thursday!

I hate to order something without seeing one in person, but I've gotten good advice on these boards, and would appreciate your input! :D

TIA
