Stuffit Expander should unrar a .rar.
If you didn't install Stuffit Expander, then it may no be there. Hit their website and download it for free.
When ever i download other files it opens using stuffit though. So i assumed i have it. Shouldnt it be in the applications folder?

Yes & No. /Applications/Utilites/
Its not there, unless its called something else. Nothing is listed as Stuffit Expander. Theres no harm in downloading it again though is there? If its not showing up.....strange!!

I don't see why not... I guess Spotlight or it's ilk doesn't find "StuffIt" when you search for it? What about:
sudo find / -name "StuffIt" -print
