Hi

I am soon going to reinstall OS X on my iBook and am busy backing up my data.

I can export my mp3 playlist easily enough, but I am uncertain how to back up the CD tracklistings that have been retrieved from the CDDB via iTunes. I can't seem to find out where exactly they are stored...

Any help would be appreciated. TIA.

Frobisher.

Those names are stored in the ID3 tags of the MP3 files, so as long as you have the MP3s themselves the names will stay intact.

there are two files that store this information, both of which are in your ~/Library/Preferences folder.

CD Info.cidb
CDDB Preferences

just copy these two over to your new installation and it will work fine. if you're moving your whole user folder over, you don't have to worry about a thing.
