Web Design on Macs,,Help

I'm switching to a Mac,,
What's the easiest program to use on the mac to create a website,,
my first project is creating a website for a sports team,,let them know about upcoming games and news and stuff..i'm not an expert on web design,,,so what program would i use on a mac to create a pretty basic webpage???

Well, your Mac will come with iWeb.. which is pretty good and super easy.

You can download a trial version of Dreamweaver. But iWeb should be a nice option, and its free with every Mac.

It's not too clear what you want to do, when you say "basic website". If you're looking for tools to run the backend, database saccessing kind of stuff, there are two excellent frameworks available - Ruby On Rails (Open Source, but the key developers all use Macs), or Apple's own WebObjects.

If your just looking to do HTML page layout, you could try Conqueror or NVU, which are two branches of the same Open Source Project. It's basically the Mozilla foundation HTML editor, and is relatively good (although it's not a Dreamweaver, by any stretch of the imagination)

I have made loads of HTML coding and javascript etc. and my favourite acclication is 'Taco HTML Edit'. Which is free and yet brilliant for me, that combined with Photoshop is great for making a website and because Taco is a simple and small app it is quick.

As mentioned before, you can download a dreamweaver trial - if you have the money to purchase it, it is really the way to go. Are you a student? If so, your school may offer a discount...

Do what I do, hand code. I do that for all the sites I design. I have much more control that way.

Combination of Taco and Cyberduck is the best thing going in my book, both free, both great*.

*Now that cyberduck fixed up all the fracking problems they had

I have had great experience using "Textwrangler" from Bare Bones Software. It is great for hand coding, and it is free. Also, as mentioned before, Cyberduck. For graphic editing, Gimp is pretty powerful however it can be cumbersome at times. It is more an app for editing images rather than creating web graphics, though that can be done as well. Hope this helps.
