Physical exercise: 5 days a week (I take Fridays and Saturdays off) and I always complain about it. Some people say they get a "natural high" or feel rejuvenated from exercise. Not me. But I know it's good for me so I do it.
Mental exercise: 7 days a week. Work, reading, puzzles, face-to-face conversations, online conversations, or learning anything new. That kind of exercise I enjoy.

Well, okay, wishing isn't going to make this flab go away! :D
I'm still pretty fit, but could lose 10 - 20 pounds. Helps being tall. I guess I'm going to have to break out the slim fast bars... heh! :D
I often exercise and drink a glass of water before I go to bed so when I sleep I'm burning fat and not getting hungry. I'm usually hungry in the morning, but drink water to fill me up, so when I eat breakfast I'm okay. :D
Exercise (when I remember): 3-5 times a week.

Yeah, I try to do it as much as possible too. During my summer break I do 20-30min of running before breakfast daily and about 1hour of weight training 3 times a week. It drops down to just the weight training during the school year though and down to almost nothing during the exam crunch. Somehow I still have time for Macrumors:rolleyes:...

How about an option for "not as often as I should". :D
I need to get back on a regiment... damn laziness!

hmmmm... does walking to and from my car 2-3 times a day, plus traversing from class to class, count?
other than that, i exercise my mind a whole bun--well, occasionally. :o;)

I tend to fluctuate between daily and 3-4 times per week. Right now I'm on the 3-4 times a week end of the swing, but I'm starting to move the other way (summer is almost here). For me, exercise is working out in my martial art (i.e. practicing alone, teaching a class, training with a partner, etc.).

My smoking, and fatty foods diet will not allow me to exercise.
And I doubt that I could even get of this couch right now, oh nevermind I am out of smokes.

I go to the gym three times a week for 2.5 hours a time....rowing machine, ski machine, 3 sets of 8 on each of the weight machines then on the bike. I don't go more cause its good to have a days rest between, lets your body recover.

That's true but it depends on your workout. With your workout I would agree. With mine we focus on single bodyparts each day for an hour to an hour and a half. One day chest, next day arms, next day back, etc., etc. 5 days a week.

About the only exercise I get is from my P.E. class, and walking to classes. I guess that I should probably exercise a little bit more, but I don't. :D

if exercise means jogging, gym, swimming or generally making myself do something I don't want to, then 0 hours a week.
If it means kiteboarding, surfing, wakeboarding or, if I'm in the right country, snowboarding, then every day of the week! :D

I have never been one to do organized physical exercise. Except in school when forced to take PE class. Always have been awkward and clumsy. My exercise consists of walking.

During the school year, I go to the gym maybe once or twice a week for a mix of cardio/ weight training just to maintain my shape and conditioning, but not to improve (i.e. the "bare minimum" approach.) During the appropreate seasons I'll also play intermural soccer and vball.
In the summer, I weight train 4 times a week, focusing on one major muscle area each session. I do cardio between 2 and 5 times a week, depending on demands at work (15 hour workday = no gym, just sleep). Same for my partying schedule (Beer = dehydration = the next day is a write-off)
Say, does anybody have long-term experience with using the iPod for running and/or general gym use? I'd imagine the spinning hard drive might take some abuse... I'm debating buying a tiny solid state Mp3 player or splurge on a new iPod should they be updated on the 28th...

The hard drive only runs long enough to fill it's on board RAM. It actually have quite a bit of RAM so if you keep your song bit rate down it can fit a number of songs all into RAM. I haven't heard of any failures due to jogging and the like.

Look for a small gym. Usually it's just the big gyms with day care and pools and all that other crap that are expensive.
I go to a small gym that has couples rates of $50 a month and family rates of $60 a month. The price really isn't that bad when you split it between a few people. Also a good thing to look for is that the gym advertises physical therapy. This usually means the trainers take a more hands on approach if you want personal training.

oh..... all the time!!! Walking from the computer to the refrigerator
and back is GREAT exercise, and I do it ALL the time!
Well, on a more serious note, I exercise for more than 1 hour at
a time twice a week, and walk up and down my school's stairs
all day.

I play baseball after school. People think its easy but if you actually play its not. Our coaches like to make us run Big Ms too.
I go to the gym 4-5 times a week. I try to switch off...
Monday:
Cleans, Goodmornings, Leaper machine, Leg curls, hyper externsions, situps/leglifts, and rubber band/lateral moves/jump rope
Tuesday:
Bench, J.M. Press, Dips, One arm snatches, curls, rubberbands n stuff
Thursday:
Hang snatches, seated shoulder press, shrugs, reverse forearm curls, situps/leglifts, rotator cuff
Friday:
Squats and box squats, dead lifts, leg curls, toe raises, barbell curls, and leg drills.
I dont work out to stay in shape. I work out to get better at whatever sport I am playing. I am playing baseball now, so I tend to work my forearms a little more then usual.
But by saturday, your thighs, and calves, and forearms are killing.

We have a gym in town called Crux Rock Gym. It is a regular fitness gym but focuses on rock climbing. The place is two stories and all the walls are synthetic climbing walls. They even have an alcove where the climbing surface is even on the ceiling. They also have all the regular gym equipment. I have to say it is the coolest gym you have ever seen.

Rock climbing is awesome. Joshua Tree's a great place for that. I used to boulder a few years back. Nice trip if you have the time.
Indoor rock climbing -- tried it a bit -- didn't get into it. But I think I needed to be in better shape to do it.
Martial arts used to be my thang. That and weight lifting. Could almost do the splits.
Used to do a little gymnastics... more tumbling than anything. That was fun too. UCLA has/used to have? Tuesday and Thurday nights available for people who did that -- they could go to the gymnastics room at the John Wooden Center and work out there. A lot of really outstanding people work out there, very friendly and helpful.
Now, I exercise my fingertips on this keyboard talking to people around the world. :D Sort of a virtual globetrotting. :D

Yeah, I have 2 rock climbing gyms in my city: Vertical Reality and Coyote's.
VR is a 3 story converted warehouse that is just amazing in terms of the difficulty levels and Coyote's has a lot of variety and is better for beginners (they have quite a few hard walls too).
They both have overhangs and places for bouldering. I could just spend hours on them--at least until my hands are all wierd and sensitive :).
The best part about those gyms isn't about the workout tho, it's about taking your girl there and impressing her with your lean, rock-hard muscles and spiderman-like agility ;).

We've got a great climbing gym out here, Go Vertical (http://www.govertical.com/philly/gymspecs.html), with a 48' wall. I'm on the verge of my first clean 5.10- (tonight!) and try to get there twice a week (along with a hangboard work-out or two). Did a 6 mile run on Tuesday before work (only my second time out! 8.5 min. miles). My brother's taking me on some real rock in Oregon later this spring. Can't wait! - j

Yeah Oregons got some fantastic rock to climb. There are begginer cliffs that are pure volcanic walls with all sorts of handholds and there are more experienced stuff where you are climbing 100ft basalt crystals and then there is some expert stuff up around the Sisters area.
