Nov 5, 2006, 07:12 PM
After seeing all of these awesome set up's, I started to wonder who has the most computers and monitors? The Mac Pro can power eight 30 inchers. Is anyone doin it?
I know that we allready have a set up thread, but i wanna see who has the biggest one...
Lets see what you got...

This thread is going to get ugly.
ps. I only have a 12" PowerBook. 17" C2D iMac and 20" 2007FPW monitor. I would trade it all for a 30" anything, but not PC.

Doesn't the University of Virginia have a thousand or so Power Macs linked up to form a great big Super Computer? If anyone from the University posts here I think they might just shade it.

At my disposal, I have:
16-17" 2.0GHz C2D / 1GB / 160GB iMacs
4-20" 2.16Ghz C2D / 1GB / 250GB iMacs
1-20" 2.16Ghz CD / 2GB / 250GB iMac
2-2.5GHz PowerMac / 2GB / 500GB / w/2-20" ACDs
I really only use the red Macs for serious work. I use the 17's for fun and screwing around... I'll post a pic soon.

Maybe this thread needs to be refined so that participants are discussing ONLY the Macs which they OWN, not Macs which may be "at their disposal" due to work....
4 Macs owned and loved here:
1 PB 15" (November 2005)
1 MBP 15" (May 2006)
1 iMac 20" (October 2005)
1 Mac Pro (3 Ghz, 8 GB RAM), 1 30" ACD
Not the biggest setup, certainly, but each one of my Macs is loved and cherished and used....

Yes, Virginia Tech. Or Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. This was from my first trip over to the Terascale Facility, which is just set off from the actual campus here; my photos were shaky and unsteady because I was full of glee. The room this is kept in is also freezing, so my photos from inside the cluster room are horribly shaky; this is pretty much the best one, and it shows a bunch of the nodes. 1100 in total.
After looking at some of the visualization and analysis results from this computer - it can really get work done. I would just like to know how fast it can encode a movie in Handbrake.

Hey... I'm sorry you didn't like it... but I thought it would be cool to see the largest most extreme set ups out there. I posted in the Picture Gallery so we could see pictures, not people posting random specs and systems. I really like seeing what kind of wild set ups people have, and thought that others might think it was cool.
I didn't mean any harm by it...

I agree, pics of people's extreme setups (PeeCee or Mac) are cool to see. :)

Of course you did not mean any harm by it, no need to feel bad- I think that it was a nice idea Sammis89. :)

Handbrake performs far better if you rip the disc to an image first. So likely somewhat greater than the ATA speed. Anyways.

As fas as I understand, the question was who has the biggest "setup", which means that you actually use them. Posting pics of your vintage collection wouldn't hurt though :D

No it's not. Keep one mounted at the back of your 2x30ACD setup and one for your PowerBook G4? What's wrong with that?
