How can I prevent pop ups when I access Yahoo on my Macbook OS X.

If you're using Safari, you need to check the option in the Safari menu to block pop-ups.

You may as well download PithHelmet (http://www.culater.net/software/PithHelmet/PithHelmet.php) while you're at it and block ads too.
