Ok seriously in the last three weeks Apple has released wonderful updates to the MacBook Pro, the MacBook today, and a Free trial of Aperture. Couple this with Rick Santorum getting an 18% beat down by my wonderful state and the retaking of the house and the senate to at a very minimum effectuate the intent of our founding fathers, i.e., a system grounded in checks and balances... this is Hanukkah, Christmas, and my parent's divorce all rolled into one! (context: you can't beat being half Jewish and half Christian with divorced parents). ;)

Apparently I cannot use a word on here that refers to your butt and the opening of this area to describe Rick Santorum.:D

as my fellow chicagoans will tell you, today was an absolutely beautiful day. 65 degrees and sunny. i took the afternoon off work and took a walk by the lake. everyone was smiling ear to ear. my neighborhood is abuzz, and everyone feels like a weight has been lifted.
we had a moveon.org event at my theatre on sunday. we called voters in virginia and spread the word. i can't help but think we may have had a small something to do with the outcome.

It IS a beautiful day. Just remember that this is not the time for revenge. This is the time to heal and unite the US again. If the Dems do that, they will win 2008. That needs to be the focus right now. Bush and his ilk excluded 50% of the population from their thoughts for the last 6 years. What the Dems need to do is make sure that they are bipartisan, and work to include everyone. This country needs healing more than anything right now. If the Dems play partisan, they will lose in 2008.

Rahm Emanuel was talking about that very thing tonight on Charlie Rose. I was very encouraged. The fight, after all is for the middle, not the extremes.

So with the Dems taking control, how long will it be before they screw it up.
Hopefully longer than it took the neocons. Last time, it took decades, and they never got this bad. The Reps... they took to it a little too quickly for my Goldwater leaning self, and I'm happy to see them get humbled a bit.
As said, if they pick now to take the high road (yes, now you can take the high road... but don't do nothing and call it the high road) and remain in the middle while dealing with the real issues, I think we'll all be a little better for it. :)
