looks like the price of a powerbook/powermac is common so far...

I've declared an average of 8k a year on my taxes for the last five years, but there's more than likely another 1k to 2k of small stuff that slips through the cracks... and that's just the computer stuff that I write off. I don't want to think about the "real" total $$$ per year.

No computer purchases in 2002... only an iPod and various other computer "stuff ". Probably not over $1K. I'd like to spend more, except for two major things: 1) Not enough money, and 2) Not worth upgrading yet!

Heck, I just bought a Toshiba CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo internal drive off of eBay for my Yikes G4, so I'm prepared to hunker down for awhile while the PPC 970 gets implemented and goes through a couple revisions.

My biggest purchase was my $1499 iBook, plus probably a few other things. Actually the iBook ended up being about $1725 as I didn't realise I had to pay tax on it! (I live in New Zealand and I thought there was no tax on imports, it turns out that taxing begins at $400).

Bought a printer (Epson 2200) and a firewire drive and some software all that put me over the $1k mark. This year if I buy a new 970 with dual monitors, fully loaded, well, $6k is not out of the question :D

I've gotthe cash sitting in the bank waiting for an Apple product good enough in my own eyes, but Apple failed to excite me.

I initially thought that the 12" PB was it, but they hamstrung that design on its cache.

I was at an Apple store last friday and asked when they were going to EOL and discount off the 15" TiB's...IMO, that product's worth only ~$1500 in my eyes right now, which is what some EDU's are selling them for - - kind of interesting that you can't get the same deal through an Apple store, isn't it?

Well I'm in the 20% range in the poll. Spent ~$4,000.00 last year, the majority was for MWNY. The rest was for software. Like the majority of us I'm waiting for the PPC 970 to arrive! :)

I bought a dual G4/800 last year plus various software (new and upgrades) and supplies, which put me at about $2800.

Probably buy a iPod when I get money back from the tax.

My Dual 500 (including 3 year warranty) was about $750 with sales tax. Add a $200 Radeon 8500 and about $500 in misc software and accessories and I guess I'm just shy of $1500. (I sold a bunch of stuff on eBay that I had lying around so my net is much lower than that.)

I'm on the low end right now. Just a few little things here and there. But, just wait a couple of months, and then the number will be notably higher... :D

I didn't personally spend really any money on computers in the past year. But my parents bought me this iMac, which I think was about $2,000 with tax and everything.

- 5 GB iPod - $300

On the flip side, how about a poll about how much you've sold a Mac for. I am still amazed at how well Mac's hold their value.

I just sold my trusty Blue & White G3 400 (256MB/6GB/DVD-ROM) on eBay for $400.

I paid $2400 for her new in 1999 - that's nearly 17% for an OLD machine. (Old by PC standards at least)

I ever got $150 for the Sonnet G4/400 ZIF I had in it. (That one I'll never figure out, you can get new 500 MHz ZIF's for nearly that price now-a-days, but I'm not complaining!)

Two eMacs, Airport, AppleCare, .Mac, memory, printer, ink, software, books... about three thousand bucks US.

Thinking about an iBook....

I guess I spent the most on CDs to burn. Other than that, I'm pretty set with software and all.

$6500. I don't plan on spending much more anytime soon. I'm still explaining why we needed all this to the wife.
