I actually had to go for the DS Lite...sowwies. I think Nintendo has really been innovative in the past year with what handheld gaming is like. They took a very different approach than Sony, and their handheld seems to be a lot less powerful than the PSP, and yet when you hear someone raving about actually playing games on a handheld, it's almost always how much fun the DS is and not the PSP, and the PSP users are spending all their time futzing with memory cards and other junk. So I had to give ups to Nintendo.

The Nike/iPod is a great idea, and if only it didn't use Nike shoes I would really think about using it. It sounds like a lot of fun and it's a really great synergy.

The MBP is a very nicely executed product.

All the rest of the options to me are ho-hum.

But I still had to give the big N the nod over Apple. Props though to Apple for being involved in two of the picks. It's notable that portable music players are largely absent from the list.

The Nike shoes aren't required. It just gives you a socket to put it in. Just put the transmitter under your laces put some tape over it for safety and run your heart out. :)

All those products are blasť. I guess if I had to choose one, it would be the StreetPilot, but there have been items like that for years. Time isn't giving very many options here.

Oh, wow, really? I had no idea. So the transmitter comes with the iPod kit and not with the shoes? I thought it was built into the shoes! If I can use this with Saucony's I am very interested! Thank you! :)

Here's Marware's little gadget that makes it easy to use the sensor with any shoe. (http://www.marware.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/Marware.woa/1/wa/selectedCategory?catalogCatID=226&wosid=PV98vWhdLj0vT8wsvCFOBg)

Yeah, I actually voted for the DS, too. :D I got one for my birthday a couple months ago and I love it.

I voted for the MacBook Pro even though I don't consider laptops as a gadget.

if it came in higher capacities, the sony mylo would be pretty slick.

What a silly poll. How does the Treo 700w score a nomination when most tech critics favor the Treo 700p?

Yeah, and MacBook Pros are not "gadgets." A great computer, but certainly not a "gadget."

I use an official Nike shoe pouch. Same thing, but generally designed for holding keys, coins etc, but works great for the sensor.

First run/walk yesterday taught me this kit works great, but I'm far too out of shape. Things will improve, but I still had to vote for this as the best gadget. Tempted by both the DS lite and MBP, as owning both, but this is more of a true gadget I feel.
