I kinda like the "smokey" finish of the older one.

Could you just clean it off with a damp rag, or is it permanent?

That's rather amusing :D

I've never quite understood why the battery is welded to part of the casing and there isn't just a standalone battery and a compartment cover.

You think that's bad. You should see someone at my school who has both the 12" iBook and PowerBook. The PB is more dented than a white van and the iBook looks like it's been through the tumble drier...

Just goes to show how good quality Apple's products are. My PowerBook used to go with me everywhere and took a beating, still works perfectly. Same goes for my iPod, can't count the number of times its been dropped and it still works like its brand new!

Yes, I bought a used iBook G4 that looked like that and a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser + Radtech IceCream made it look new!

Good question! :D I'd say its easier to dirty the clean part, but clean the dirty part would look better...;)

I don't think that is what it was so you may be the only one who does that.:D
I think that he sets it on his lap and never washes his pants.;)
