I wouldn't own a Zune if they paid me.

How will this screw up Apple's business model? As others have said Universal gets around $180 million for digital downloads, and iTunes has an 80% market share, so getting about $140 million. As Apple only sells around 40 million iPods/year, it seems like a huge gamble which Apple could just tell them to go away. It's also another reason not to buy a Zune.

I don't get it. Would Kenwood, or RCA pay Universal for every CD player they sell? NO. And Universal should encourage them to sell more CD players, as that raises the demand for CDs. The same is true in the mp3 player market - The more players on the market, the more potential consumers for legal downloads.

Next Apple ads should be iPod vs Zune.

iPod: "I've got an award-winning store for downloading media"
Zune: "Well my store offers all the music yours does"
iPod: "Really? How'd you do it?"
Zune: "Bribed 'em. Said they get a piece of me for every player sold"
iPod: "Ah ha....So when people diss you they'll leave right?"
Zune: "Yeah that's right"
iPod: "..."

What weve got here is a nice, warm, **** sandwich from Universal Music

Universal will just drop them in a few years after they see how well the iPod is over Zune. I mean come on its just another rip off of the iPod. Just that its make by Microsoft that just happends to rivils against Apple in the first place.

Nothing to worry about.
