They are looking at a Mac mini... just wondering if it will be updated to intel C2D soon?

I was surprised it wasn't upgraded when the MacBooks were. I bet they will be upgraded by Thanksgiving. If they don't, Apple is using the Mini to get rid of excess Core Duos...

they will soon, but there have been no rumors about an update, so people are thinking they will be updated early next year.
Unless you already have a display, keyboard and mouse, have a look at refurb iMacs. They end up being cheaper overall, and they are better specced ie dedicated GPU, more HDD capacity, etc.

And they have a camera. And they look cool (although the mini does too)

The mini is a great little machine and will cover most basic needs, but I still recommend the C2D iMac with at least 1 GB RAM, 128 MB VRAM , for performance, HD storage, ease of adding RAM and a beautiful display.
