Is anyone having problems with Safari (v73) crashing shortly after or during a history clear followed by a cache empty? It does it every single time for me. Anyone know if this is a known bug yet?

So no one has this problem but me? Safari is now crashing more than 5 times a day now. Yes, Virginia, I have repaired pernissions, etc. I'm really getting worried that I have a bigger problem. Yesterday, when I opened the lid of my iBook from sleep, it had a black screen with vertical lines on it. This has happened twice now. Any thoughts?

The display problem could be a worn display connector ribbon. happens from time to time in laptops (used to happen constantly on older powerbooks)...
as for the safari thing, it doesn't crash on my machine. try doing it in the reverse order, empty cache then clear history... have you tried reinstalling safari?

Yup, tried both of those and the same thing happens. If I do the steps in reverse order, it hanngs first (beachball spins) and then craches. Grr.. I knew about the video connector, but I didn't know it was sonething on the 800 iBook. On a side note, my AirPort reception has tanked lately too. I hope my top lid isn't all screwed up.

Sound like you might have a serious problem (or problems). They only other thing I would suggest is performing a clean install, and see what happens. If you're stilling having problems after that, I'd send it off to Apple.
I'm still amazed that I know so many people with the first model of snow iBooks, and they've had no problems. But, nearly everyone I know who owns a later model iBook has had constant problems.
Hope you get it fixed Gus!

Sometimes this problem has been fixed simply by zapping the PRAM. Restart the machine holding down:
command-option-p-r
wait four chimes and let go.
